Welcome to Rockmont!

Rockmont is a private 4 BR/3.5BA home in Seven Devils situated on a 2.5-acre site with stunning year-round Grandfather Mountain views. The spacious home has 3,200 square feet of living area with a game room and 2,500 square feet of outdoor deck space, including a hot tub. The secluded acreage also backs up to and is surrounded by the 300+ acre Bear Paw State Natural Area, which protects Hanging Rock Ridge and the headwaters of Dutch Creek. A natural, pure spring waterfall flows year-round on the Rockmont acres, and there are multiple woodlands and rock outcroppings to explore. 

The main floor welcomes guests into an open floor plan with the kitchen, dining area, and great room. Guests immediately experience the custom craftsmanship and local artists' original artwork throughout the house. Wood floors, soaring vaulted ceilings, and a huge stone fireplace are just a few custom features. These take a back seat to the expansive wall of windows and glass doors leading to the covered open-air deck, framing Grandfather Mountain's spectacular multiple profile views and flooding the room with natural light. The great room boasts a large HD Smart TV beside a stone wood-burning fireplace and comfy living room furniture.

The updated kitchen has stainless appliances, a wooden center island with five stools, and is well-equipped to prepare and serve meals to a packed house. The adjacent dining area offers a banquet-style table that seats eight guests, allowing up to thirteen guests to dine together with an additional kitchen bench. 

Multiple layered decks surround Rockmont with cozy seating areas and the hot tub, all with those long-range views. The covered deck outside the great room on the main level features an outdoor dining table and other seating, a gas grill, and a gas fire table. Beyond the deck areas, guests will find a wooden path leading to the forest and explorable outcroppings, a wood-burning fire pit area with space to set up the hammock, and a natural flowing spring waterfall. 

The master suite is on the main level and features a king bed, a private ensuite bathroom with a jetted bathtub, a TV, and accesses the main covered deck with a great mountain view. Follow the spiral staircase down to the lower level living room with a TV, two comfortable pull-out sofas, table and chairs, and a full-size pool table. The sliding glass doors from the lower level living space look towards the mountains and lead to the covered deck featuring a bench swing, additional seating, and a large napping swing. There are three bedrooms downstairs. The first queen suite has a private ensuite bathroom and views from the large sliding glass door leading to the lower deck. A second queen bedroom includes a TV, and the bunk room sleeps six with three wooden bunk beds. Each bedroom contains beautiful handmade wood furniture, from the beds to the nightstands and dressers, lending a feeling of loving quality. 

The game room below the garage, with a separate entrance, offers even more space for guests to enjoy. The game room includes a wall-length crafting area in an optional sleeping bunk room, a ping pong table, checkers, and a foosball table. There is a TV and pull-out sofa for an optional sleeping space. Note: There is no bathroom or water in the game room, and the space is heated and cooled by a mini-split unit. 

Rockmont accommodates up to 14 guests with flexible sleeping options. There are 7 Smart TVs throughout the home with cable or satellite service, multiple streaming options, and a DVD player. The main house has wi-fi, recently replaced central heating and air conditioning, and a washer and dryer. No pets are allowed. The newly widened gravel driveway winds around natural rock outcroppings and leads to gravel parking for three cars near the front entrance and additional parking for three cars on the parking pad above the house. Guests will be provided with the best written driving directions that differ from GPS navigation. Use the turn-by-turn directions we provide.

Note on the Driveway

4xWheel or AWD vehicles should only access the lower front entrance parking area to ensure the driveway remains in good repair. All others are required to park on the upper level. This will ensure no spin-out situations on the drive from the house entrance.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

You may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, you will receive a refund of half the amount paid to date. Cancellations within 30 days before the arrival date do not receive a refund. If you purchase travel insurance and the reason for the cancellation is covered, you may recover the entire amount.
