The Great Bear Lodge Description
Welcome to The Great Bear Lodge!
The Great Bear Lodge is a cozy cabin in Vilas with three sleeping areas and three bathrooms. Just 5 miles away from the historic town of Valle Crucis, this home is close to many mountain adventures. Valle Crucis is home to the Mast General Store, which offers goods from backpacks and walking boots to old-time candy and everything in between. Right behind the store is Valle Crucis Community Park, with playgrounds, walking trails, sports fields, and access to the New River, where you can swim and fish. The Great Bear Lodge is 7 miles from Boone, with local shopping, restaurants, the Boone Golf Course, Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, High Gravity Adventures Zipline and Aerial Park, and Appalachian Ski Mountain.
The Great Bear Lodge offers mountain elegance at its finest. Enjoy the main living space with leather furniture around the large flat-screen TV and a gas log fireplace. The dining area and kitchen have everything needed for a mountain getaway. The living space extends to a covered deck with a Primo gas grill and smoker. There is space for guests to spread out in the lower level family room with entertainment, including a TV, foosball, shuffleboard, and a wet bar. Outside on the lower level, enjoy the hot tub on a covered patio with the fire pit (owners provide free firewood) overlooking the mountain view.
There is a King suite loft with a private bathroom, a queen bedroom on the main level, and a bunk room on the lower level with a twin-over-full bunk and a twin trundle. The lower-level family room sofa also converts into a queen sleeper.
Additional amenities include Smart TVs, wifi, electric baseboard heating, an EV charging station at the parking area, and wall-mounted gas heating with mini-splits on the main and lower levels for year-round comfort. Pets are not allowed. Level paved parking comfortably accommodates three cars. Access from the parking level to the main level entrance is by a staircase from the parking area. Two cameras at the cabin capture the driveway and side yard.

You may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund. If you cancel more than 30 days before arrival, you will receive a refund of half the amount paid to date. Cancellations within 30 days before the arrival date do not receive a refund. If you purchase travel insurance and the reason for the cancellation is covered, you may recover the entire amount.
