We had an incredible weekend at the Grandfathered Inn. The home is absolutely immaculate—spotless and beautifully maintained. One family member described it perfectly: it feels like an HGTV dream home.
The views are amazing and make the entire experience even more special. Inside, the house truly has it all. There's a gigantic kitchen that's perfect for cooking and gathering, multiple fireplaces throughout the home, a dedicated puzzle and game table, and plenty of space for everyone to relax.
For families, the kids' setup is fantastic—a kids' bedroom stocked with books and a separate bean-bag “gaming” room with an Xbox 360, which was a huge hit. The pool room/game room is another standout, featuring both a pool table and a foosball table for hours of entertainment.
And the master bedroom deserves its own mention—it's AMAZING. Spacious, comfortable, and feels like a private luxury retreat.
This home is thoughtfully designed, incredibly well equipped, and perfect for a weekend getaway or longer stay in Boone. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend the Grandfathered Inn.

We loved this house. So spacious. Quality finishes. Beautiful views. Well located. The beds (other than the master suite) were firmer than we expected, but we got used to them. Loved the Hot Springs hot tub (did not work first day, but CCR came out the next to fix). Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Grandfathered Inn the weekend of Feb. 27-March 2. We have a few suggestions for the house.
--The hot water heater had to be reset 6-7 times because the water ran cold many times. Once it was reset it worked. It might need a tune-up.
--The couch blankets could use a good wash.
--Having only one fridge was odd for a house that size. Perhaps a beverage cooler or small fridge could be added for those extra items. We did a lot of cooking while there so we utilized our coolers and bought ice for them to hold items that wouldn't fit in the fridge.
--The tupperware/plastic containers were an odd assortment. Many had no lids that fit. We had brought large Ziploc bags to use instead.
---Many of baking/cooking pans were dirty with burnt on food and grease.
---The glass and gold coffee tables in the main living room have really super sharp corners!! Ouch. Not sure what could be done to cover them.
Overall the house was great for our family and friends and we had a wonderful time on the mountain. The views over to Grandfather Mtn. were stunning. :)

Really great rental property. Carolina Cabin Rentals did a great job in providing and answering any questions I had as well as emails of deposits, due dates, arrival instructions, etc. Home (Grandfathered Inn) was exception.

This home is a true escape and gem not to be missed. The heaters on the top deck accommodated for the cold temps. This home is well equipped with up to date appliances and electronics. Enjoy life up in the trees and sleep under the stars.

This home is Spectacular! The views are awesome, the house is gorgeous, the beds are so comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could ever need!
Our family vacation was one of the best yet! The kids had their own space downstairs with lots of games and a huge TV to watch. Dinner time was spent around a marvelous table and as we said what we were thankful each day, the house was at the top of the list. We hope to come back again!

Our family had a wonderful stay at your beautiful mountain home. Very well stocked with everything we could possibly need. Everyone had their own large bedroom with private bath, which was especially nice. The back deck was especially wonderful to watch the sunset each evening, while listening to the water of the creek below - absolutely loved this!! The view of Grandfather mountain was spectacular! Very relaxing and fun time with family. We hope to come back soon!

A wonderful large house for our family of 5 adults and 3 children! It has beautiful views, lots of room to spread out, a well-stocked kitchen and was nicely furnished. We were close to restaurants, downtown Blowing Rock with it's shopping and lovely park for the children to play. We would definitely stay here again.

This house is perfect for multiple families since there is so much room to spread out. It is in a great central location to both Boone and Blowing Rock. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you'd need. The only suggestions I'd make are to oil the door hinges in the bedroom & bathroom- the squeaky doors are very loud if someone gets up in the middle of the night!

The home was perfect for our family vacation. There were 5 adults and 2 children. The home was large enough for everyone to have their own space with plenty of common areas to congregate for games, meals and enjoying the scenery.
We were lucky enough to see the deer pass just behind the house on two separate occasions and we were fortunate to get approximately 5 inches of snow during our stay!!! The community did an excellent job of clearing the roads so we did not have an issue leaving the house even though the roads are very steep.
The views were outstanding and the house had everything we needed for making meals all week long. We did have a few minor issues, but the management company responded promptly and issues were resolved.
We highly recommend the Grandfather Inn if you plan on staying in the Boone/Blowing Rock area!

The house was just amazing! We spent the vacation with family and everyone had their own space. The most beautiful house I have stayed in. They had everything that one may need for cooking. Spectacular kitchen.
It is a perfect location to do activities near by and visit the surrounding towns. If I could, I would stay here every year. Rental company was very easy to reach if any questions needed to be answered.

The home was beautiful and the views were awesome. Loved all the many windows in the house. I could be cooking and watching the deer down below and the gorgeous fall colors. We took a elderly 88 years young man and gave him the master suite. He loved everything about it especially the grab bars in the shower and the gas fireplace. The rental agency also deserves 5 stars. The reservation was easy to book online and Carolina Rental Agency called prior to our arrival to ensure all our questions were answered. During our stay if questions arose, I could send a text and always received a prompt reply.

The House is incredible and perfect for our 4 little grands. The house is every bit as nice as the pictures. The little ones enjoyed the indoor pool in the neighborhood too. The house is in a perfect location between Blowing Rock and Boone. The views from the porch are the most amazing. I think our favorite part were the heaters on the porch. We had a little problem with the air conditioning .Carolina Cabins had it fixed ASAP. We will definitely be back next fall.

Me and my finance rented this house for a 5 night relaxing getaway and let me tell you that this house definitely providing that for us! The location and views were absolutely perfect, the house is very secluded which is nice when you are trying to have a peaceful vacation to just relax. We loved drinking our coffee every morning on the main level deck, views of the mountains were great and the air is so fresh. Well stocked kitchen with a beautiful fireplace in it and we used the charbroil function on the commercial stove to cook hamburgers which was quite handy so I didn't even have to go outside. The master bedroom is the best place in the house, comfortable bed with big tv, fireplace and walls of windows to wake up to the views of the mountains! Master bathroom is crazy!! It's as big as the bedroom, so much space and love love the big walk in shower. If you're looking for a mountain getaway then this is the absolute perfect house.

The house is perfect for a large family. It is well appointed with everything needed to prepare meals and entertain a family of various ages. The house is designed in such a way to afford space and privacy, as well as ample amenities. The oven was not operating correctly and required some adjustments when trying to cook a meal. This was a small inconvenience but one that should have been corrected prior to being rented for the week. We enjoyed a wonderful week at Grandfathered Inn and hope to return.

Grandfathered Inn is a great house with awesome views. The house was very clean, had great features, and was well-equipped in the kitchen and throughout. Nice touches of having things labeled and smelling good was a bonus. Would highly recommend and hope to rent it again. The only suggestion we have is that the oven needs to be fixed. The temps are way off and the door doesn't shut good. There is also a kitchen cabinet door that needs to be fixed. Again, those are minor and just wanted to make you aware. Overall-LOVED IT!

This beautiful home met the needs of our extended family perfectly. The location and views were amazing! Each room had special features, comfortable seating or sleeping, and great views. The house was clean and organized. I really appreciated the labels on shelves and switches. The kitchen and fully stocked pantry were perfect for cooking any meal. We were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to cook each night at a home that was not our own. The heaters on the porch and the comfortable seating made for lovely evenings. The location was a short drive to trails, attractions, shopping and more. We also loved that there was easy access to trails at the end of the driveway. Our family wants to make a commitment to returning to this home for another vacation.

We spent a fabulous week at GI with family joining us for a Christmas get together. The property had everything we could have hoped for and the amenities included everything we could need and then some. Although our arrival preceded a winter storm we still had a fabulous time and can't recommend Grandfathered Inn enough. When the clouds cleared and the sun finally broke through, the view was spectacular. We also liked the fact that the distance between houses provided a significant level of privacy and quiet. The deer grazing right outside our bedroom window was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. Great vacation stay. Thank you!

Five couples spent a long weekend together at The Grandfathered Inn. This home is way more than most rentals. It feels like a full time home. It is spectacular. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Four fireplaces. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. A cook's kitchen with everything you could possibly need with the exception of a blender or Keurig. Phenomenal views! We had a great time and would definitely return. (The only criticism is that we paid for firewood not knowing that all the fireplaces are gas. We are waiting for a refund on that and feel confident that the management company will comply. )

Beautiful Home. Great view. Enjoyed our family get together. Really great stocked kitchen. The dishwasher however, is not anchored, it rocks forward very easily. Bottom dish rack rolled completely out to the floor. Thankfully nothing broke. The oven needs to be cleaned. We tried our best to clean but needs more work. There are so many caked on spills, Smoke pours out of the oven and sets off the smoke alarm. Just those two things need to be addressed. Everything else is wonderful.

The property was beautiful and in a very private setting. Everything was clean and in order. A few things we would classify as "negative" are as follows: 1) There wasn't a Keurig coffee maker (we brought our own); 2) there were no dishwasher cubes to do the dishes. Luckily we brought 6 pods from home, but when renting this high dollar property for 4 nights one would expect to be supplied with dishwasher cubes; 3) To only supply each room with 1 towel/washcloth was a bit disappointing; 4) It was also unclear on what to do with the linens so we stripped the beds and placed everything in the laundry room. We enjoyed the outdoor living area with the heaters and the sunsets were incredible. The pool table and hot tub were also very nice. Would we come back? Yes. Absolutely.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful home to spend a rainy weekend in. The property reflects the pride the homeowners have in their own home. The kitchen is well equipped, clean and comfortable furniture and all of the necessities of home. The views of the distant mountain tops were so beautiful and yet you still were surrounded by the colorful trees and landscape.
I would encourage the homeowner to invest in more comfy twin beds for kids. As parents, you want your kids to sleep well on vacation and it was difficult with such firm beds. Also, the house felt clean, but there were obvious areas that housekeeping is failing to maintain. Property management has been notified and hopefully this won't be an issue going forward. We will not hesitate to rent this property again.

We had a wonderful stay at Grandfathered Inn. There were 5 couples in our group for a golfing and hiking vacation. The house was spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped and the location was great. Views from the top of Yonahlossee were spectacular with great sunset view over Grandfather Mountain.
Just a couple of minor notes. There were no potholders when we were there. The dishwasher hadn't been anchored and tipped forward when full. Water in master shower drained very slowly and began to smell. Still, all minor and did not affect our stay.
Big House Big Time

The home is fabulous and well furnished with room for a big family like ours. The kitchen is well stocked with a huge butler pantry with every thing you need to prepare meals and serve a large group. The only thing missing is a Keurig coffee maker. We are "coffee snobs" and took our coffee grinder and French press. But the coffee maker does have a grinder built into the machine. The views and sunsets from the porches are picture quality. Highly recommend. However, I would give the housekeeping crew a B. Only one towel in the Master Suite, dishes were left in the dishwasher, porches and garage were not swept and overall cleanliness seemed a bit short of expectations. The owner should leave a floor cleaner of some kind for guests to use. The only maintenance items that we noticed were the knob that operated the master shower valve to switch from hand shower to overhead shower was broken, the sink in the king bedroom at the bottom of the steps on level two would not hold water and the drains seemed a little slow which may be normal. If not, I would think the owner would prefer to know before it becomes a problem. We also picked up garbage a couple of mornings after a bear raid. A better way to keep that from happening would be great. Not such a fun task for guests. These are more observations than complaints. We loved the house and will stay there again.

We loved our stay here. Our honeymoon got canceled due to COVID19 so we opted to come to the mountains for a few days - needless to say this play would accommodate many more than just 2, but it was so nice we couldn't resist renting this place. The decks were our favorite places to be. The view is outstanding, the place is luxurious and you aren't far from town at all.

Three generations of our family recently spent a week in the Grandfathered Inn. The home is very comfortable in an upscale secured setting offering amenities for all age groups. The views from the top of the mountain are exquisite. I recommend this property to anyone seeking a little peace and serenity. We will return for our next trip to Boone/Blowing Rock.

House was perfect for our family trip!!! lots of space and filled with lots of amenities that made it even better- from all the cooking utensils to entertainment to blankets needed!!! and booking thru Carolina Cabin Rentals was so easy, every question answered quickly and thoroughly!!! We cant wait to come back in the summertime!!!!!
